First few weeks in Europe...

Since I have utterly failed at blogging my travels thus far, I have decided that I at least put some short summaries together, here is the first.

I left for Amsterdam on a one way flight through Iceland, where I met up with my friend Jered. We spent 4 days in the city, getting very little done in terms of traditional site-seeing,  we were not keen on standing in lines. Aimless wandering provided more than enough entertainment. Ryan joined us on the last day, and Kyle the morning before we took off again.

The next stop was Spain. We flew into Reus, which is a Ryanair hub and since we were getting in late, we elected to stay for the night. We had trouble finding our sleeping arrangement in the dark and empty streets of the city. After circling the area a few times, a man who spoke no english came running to ask if we were Americans and to lead us to what we assumed was our hostel. It turned out to be a dormitory for a small university, were we made some friends group to a local bar. I should have paid more attention to Spanish in school.

A train took us to Barcelona where we had more wandering, some sun and some spectacular views.  Four days later I had a 7something morning flight from Girona, which is an hour bus ride from Barcelona. So I stayed up all night and took a taxi from the hostel to the bus station at about 3 in the morning, splitting ways with Jered who had another couple days in Spain.

I met up with the rest of the family in Denmark where we attended the 50 year anniversary of my grandparents. After this Ryan and I headed to Copenhagen and then Berlin, where we stayed with Theresa, a friend of mind who interned at MicroSystems Engineering. Ryan left from Berlin back to Portland a few ours before I took off. I had a hard time finding a reasonably priced train ticket, so with the help of Theresa I found a 15 euro car ride from Berlin to Hamburg, where I would stay a day and then catch a train back to Skive.
